Flower essences, said to be widely used by ancient civilizations, were reintroduced in more recent times by Dr. Edward Bach in the 1930s. He is considered the father of modern-day vibrational essences, of flower-therapy and his beliefs and theories form the basis of our understanding of how they work. These natural remedies are made by using the energy and vitality contained in flowers and plants, mainly in the flowers, which are the reproductive apparatus of the plant and which represent the perfect form of synthesis of the plant subject.
Produced in liquid form, by infusing the flower into a fluid solution, they are taken by drops under the tongue or in water, or vaporized in the mouth. Dr. Bach, when developing these remedies, recognized the link between stress, emotions and illness; his essences (along with several essence ranges by other producers worldwide), help to improve our wellbeing by making healthy actual transitions in our emotions and disharmony.
They do not treat physical illness directly, as the last phase of an articulated and disequilibrium internal process/state; but rather the negative thoughts, feelings, mood, sentiments, emotions, stress, shock events or inner disharmony that may subsequently manifest (as effect and consequence of a process of somatization), as physical problems and several trouble. In resolving personality and inner imbalances, they provide a gentle, holistic, healthy and harmonic solution way.
Flower essences form part of a system of vibrational treatment, which sees human beings consisting of complex, multi-dimensional energy fields that orchestrate and organize the physical body. Vibrational and quantum approach is based on the idea that everything in the universe emits its own unique energy frequency; we believe it is also true of the physical body, which radiates/issues its own distinct energy-signature. The vibrating, subtle-energy fields are linked with one’s emotions and feelings, and their condition is vital to the overall balance of one’s psyche and physical health. Flower essences have the ability to influence these fields if imbalance occurs, thus restoring harmony, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and often physically.
Since Dr. Bach produced his range of thirty-eight flower essences, this field has blossomed, with many producers from all over the world, now creating their own ranges. In addition to essences made from single flower, we often find flower compounds, or other essences that are also created using crystals, gems, and other natural resources.
